Introduction:
This report describes the operation and specific activities of the Kansas City Scout
Traffic Management Center (TMC). Activities for March 2008 are detailed in this report.
Operations Summary:
Incidents
- TMC actively responded to 368 incidents
- 12 were within a work zone
- 28 involved Big Rigs
- 462 involved injuries
- 2 involved fatalities
- 2 possible secondary incidents
- 16 indicated bad weather as a possible contributing factor
Dynamic Message Signs (DMS)
- 723 activations
- 1,446 messages were displayed
Web Site Messages
- 731 total messages were posted to the web site including 228 for roadwork
Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) Usage
Equipment Operability
- On average, 95% of the Cameras were completely operational
- On average, 96% of the DMS were completely operational
- On average, 95% of the Detector Stations were completely operational, 2% partly functional, 2% non-functional, and 0% undetermined
Additional Information
- TOC operators logged 549 telephone calls with partner agencies
- The Scout Website had 31,697 visits from 8,947 unique visitors
